Since the 2012 London Olympics, women’s sport has grown in importance. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, this March 8 we want to vindicate the role of women in sport. For this reason, from Esportter we bring you 8 women who currently dominate the sports scene.

No one in Spain had ever won an Olympic medal in that sport. Her effort and dedication helped her overcome obstacles and achieve her dream. Carolina Marín
The badminton player has become the first person to win the Badminton World Cup for the third time. In 2018 she won gold in the two major competitions that have been held. She is one of the few tennis players who have been able to achieve multiple victories in the big four tournaments.
Mireia Belmonte
Spanish swimming has, in recent years, its star figure. The swimmer has an extensive collection of medals and has made it clear that, at the Tokyo Games, she wants to add her 47th medal in the pool. She has been considered one of the best Spanish athletes and, to this day, continues to work to maintain that position.
